Got an unwanted birthday or Christmas present? There are websites to help you offload them. But what about travel?
There are now a number of online platforms that allow you to redeem your plane ticket and hotel reservations, or buy someone else’s vacation for half the price.
In Europe, a site called Travel transfer allows you to buy other people’s unwanted vacations or sell your own. And the closer the travel date, the greater the reduction becomes. A six-night reservation for a house in the Netherlands sells for $ 290.
Then there is Emergency rate. It connects people who can’t make their non-refundable flight or hotel reservations with those looking for last-minute deals. One caveat: Most US airlines don’t allow name changes on bookings, but that’s not always the case with airlines like Norwegian, Ryanair, Finnair, Air Canada, and Volaris, among others. . How about a Los Angeles-Madrid flight leaving in two days? It’s $ 230.
And Tenant allows people to sell and buy unwanted non-refundable hotel reservations. One word of caution: always call the airline or hotel to confirm that the name change has been made, especially if the person traveling is⦠you.
